Mental health training in India
We’re excited to be working in India with Mental Health Academy India (MHAI) to provide training and other opportunities which empower people to continue to build mentally healthy communities and provide help and support for those in need.
How is Mental Strides involved?
Joining forces with MHAI, we’re delivering existing training (including safeTALK) and developing new courses, tailored for local communities and piloted in these same communities.
Partnership updates
Follow Mental Strides and Mental Health Academy India on Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up to date with our partnership activities.
We’re always happy to talk about our training and how we can tailor something similar for your workplace or community.
Here’s what our partnership looks like so far …
Holistic Health high school pilot
Newly trained local trainers and volunteers helped deliver Holistic Health training to students at Government Girls’ High Schools in Channarayapatna and Hirisave, Karnataka during February.
Seeing these local sessions roll out, and hearing positive feedback about the use of role-play, humour and real-life examples is exactly what we’d hope to achieve.
Thank you to the team who are helping share important health messages with their communities.
Holistic Health workplace pilot
Training delivery shouldn’t be based on one size fits all – every training session should be adapted and tailored for the participants on the day.
Whether that’s using different learning materials, changing the scenarios to reflect the demographics or industry, or training outdoors, adapting the delivery is important.
On 7 February we delivered our joint Holistic Health training to a lovely group of rural workers. They helped us pilot an alternative delivery method, with a focus on role play.
Special thanks to Earthen Browns for giving this training opportunity to staff and their families.
Holistic Health Train the Trainer course
During February and March, we’ll be working with a group of trainers from Bangalore to provide a greater understanding of holistic health and how we can look after it.
Course participants then take these learnings back to their communities, deliver the workshop and help support local people.
This is the first cohort to go through this training and we’re already booking places for the next course in August.
safeTALK training
In August 2022, we joined Mental Health Academy India to deliver safeTALK training in Bangalore.
The group was so engaged, looking to learn as much as possible about how to make a connection and save a life. Many wonderful friendships were made, and we were honoured to be involved.
